The NSA Flap…
Do I believe the NSA listens to just about all electronic communication it can get its jumpers on? – Sure, I do. Am I upset? – Not really as it was to be expected, having read all of V. James Bamford’s books and reading about programs like Carnivore, NarusInsight, Echelon, Room 641A, and so many more.
Am I disappointed? – Sure I am.
The US has tons and tons of information and still can’t seem to make informed choices on and plan action against terrorism, foreign policy, etc…
Also with this great knowledge why do I still have to tell US government what I make financially each and every year as well as report the transactions on my overseas bank accounts and fill out duty slips coming back into the country – Geeeesh – they should already know where I have been and what I have been doing. Why do I also have to fill out all the forms?
Also, the tantrums from the French, Germans and Brazilians etc… is just political theatre for home town consumption. The French run one the world’s finest spy organizations established for stealing technology, better than the Russians or Chinese – by far. All encryption users in France have to share their encryption keys with the government. Thus, if you are bidding on a major project against a French company – expect that the French companies will have your bid within hours of your transmitting the bid information into or from France. The French security services even used to bug the seats in all Air France First class seats. I respect their pluck!
Diplomatic relations between the United States and Brazil were strained after U.S. National Security Agency spied on Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff and her aides. Old Dilma and her comrades had a grand mal-tantrum even thinking about disconnecting the world wide web or at least requiring data to be stored on Latin American soil.
Diplomatic relations between the United States and Brazil were strained after U.S. National Security Agency spied on Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff and her aides. Ole Dilma and her comrades had a grand mal-tantrum even thinking about disconnecting the world wide web or at least requiring data to be stored on Latin American soil. That is so funny because if Brazil chooses to store their digital information on Latin American soil the US can get even more of the information than if it were stored on US soil. My guess is the tantrum had more to do with how much that knowledge of the Brazilian leadership gang is raking in “facilitation fees” just another in a series jabuticaba moments in Brazil.
If anyone thought none of this was possible, and in fact the case, you have been misinformed, not reading the papers or most important of all, not reading the Aegis Journal.
